It’s Masterpiece Thursay Kiddo’s! Today’s book review is Skippyjon Jones.
http://www.judithbyronschachner.com/skippyjon_jones.html I can say this, our daughter loves this book, it is one of her favorite’s now, not only is it wildly hilarious, but it gives the parents and kids a chance to play along, you can make up your own tunes to the song parts, have your kids clap and read different characters with you, it’s a refreshing and amazing work of literature for kids. Skippyjon is an imaginative and busy young siamese cat, who often lets his imagination take him out of his cat being, and this irritates his mother, who refers to him with such phrases as “Mr. Kitten Britches” and “Mr. Fuzzy Pants”. If you’re like me, and find creative ways to talk to your kids as well, you’ll really enjoy Mama Junebug Jones in this story book. The illustrations are whimsical and enjoyable, my daughter often loves to re create images from this book or even make up her own.I often ask her to draw cartoons that portray Skippyjon on other adventures as some extra fun to go with the book. We often do that with her books. In fact here’s some great printables for those of you who like to make sure the kids are comprehending what they read. http://www.abcteach.com/free/f/form_bookrecommendation.pdf http://www.abcteach.com/Reading/storygrammar.htm http://www.abcteach.com/bookreports/mainchar.htm This is one activity we love in our home, in fact I have so many kids books they over flow out of every room, including our bathroom. Skippyjon Jones is one of our favorites too. The idea of a siamese cat with an alter ego, El Skippito? How can you pass it up? Post a comment
